The cats

Toothpick, Lila and Milo

Meet the three

Three cats, three very different personalities, and a household that would not be the same without them.

  • Toothpick

Toothpick is my cat and the middle child. She's a tabby with a broken tail, and I got her as a kitten with one of my friends. She made the move with me from Michigan to South Dakota. She's all attitude and no bite — she acts like she hates being touched, then turns around and decides the best place to sleep is directly on top of you.

  • Lila

Lila is my boyfriend's cat and the eldest. She's also a tabby, and she's vocal, playful, and very motivated by food and treats. She has never been much of a lap cat; she usually prefers loving you from a little distance or settling near your feet. Lately, though, she's gotten more affectionate and will curl up beside you — or even on top of you — when you're on the couch.

  • Milo

Milo is both of ours and the youngest. We got him here in the town where we live now. He's vocal, a complete mama's boy, and wants to be with me basically 24/7. He loves to lay on me and follow me around, and he really is my soul cat. When we first got him he was flea-ridden and pretty rough-looking, but he has come a very long way since then.
